In the 21st century, we recognize that students largely do not want to bother with a phone call.  After working full-time or taking other courses, they’d like to send a text or an email.  Our coaches serve students in the digital age by resolving issues quickly and closing the loop with faculty.  Coaches meet students where they are to fit their needs, lifestyle and timelines and connect them with online community resources.  The most important aspects of successful retention efforts are ownership of the student experience and data-driven continuous improvement of triggers and interventions.  Quality retention support begins with regularly examining student data and taking action where it is warranted.  Over time, analytics are extremely helpful in refining the communication triggers and associated interventions.  For example via A/B testing of alternative messaging.  However, analytics will not move the needle without people following up with students.  iDesign provides a named success coach who persists with each student from enrollment through graduation.
